He can’t feel pain. She intends to change that.
Captured by the villainous Captain Astor and betrayed by her mate, Wendy finds herself aboard a ship swathed in shadows, among a crew of pirates who don’t know what to think of her. But when Wendy discovers what Captain Astor so desperately needs from her, she discovers an opportunity to use the captain to pursue her own agenda: free Peter from the curse that leaves him incapable of feeling pain and unable to love Wendy completely.
Unfortunately for Wendy, helping the captain means facing a horrific piece of her own history – one she would have rather gone without knowing.
Because truth comes at a price.
And curses don’t break for free.

This book had me in such turmoil! I feel so much for the characters my heart was aching for days! I’ve never been so affected by a book. I’ve only ever been this affected by a movie before. I’m so sad, and angry, and hurt for her. I’ve called my friends just to rant about it to get some of these feelings off my chest (obviously without giving anything away so they can also be surprised by the ending). I want to stop and give myself time to heal but I also don’t want to wait to find out what happens next. I can’t stop now and I’m hoping the fourth book comes out soon so I don’t have to wait long.
Loved this sequel! This series wasn’t what I expected, in the best way. Very different from other retellings, definitely darker.
Freeing Hook is an incredible tale that completely pulled me in from the very first page. I couldn’t put it down—I was hooked (no pun intended) by the story, the pacing, and especially the characters. Watching them grow and evolve kept me eagerly turning the pages, always wanting to know what would happen next.
T.A. Lawrence does a fantastic job blending emotion, tension, and mystery. Just when I thought I had things figured out, the twist at the end caught me off guard in the best way. It was clever, unexpected, and left me thinking about the story long after I finished.
If you're looking for a book that delivers strong character development and a gripping plot with a satisfying payoff, Freeing Hook is a must-read. I can't wait for the next book to come in the mail.
In similar fashion to Losing Wendy I truly could not tear myself away from this book. Each tragic twist and turn made me eager to continue to understand the intense dynamics between Wendy, Nolan and Peter. The level of detail that T.A. Lawrence builds out her stories with creates such a vibrant storytelling that I feel like I can almost visualize what she's describing, as if you're immersed with the events that are unfolding surrounded by the characters.
Just like Losing Wendy, there were so many unexpected twists, turns, and heartache that I truly wasn't prepared for. If you think the first book will have you questioning which characters you think you're pulling for. I can't wait for the final book to come out, and likely will be rereading both books ahead of the debut
Love this series!! Couldn’t put them down!!
